Sincerely Yours

Most of my Christmas cards are ready to be mailed out. As a person who has always loved sending - and receiving - mail, I find great satisfaction in the stack of envelopes all sealed, addressed, and stamped. I enjoy my memories of the people I'm sending to as I go down my list, writing out their cards, thinking of them getting ready for Christmas as well. Sadly, after I don't hear back from recipients after a few years, I will start emailing them Christmas greetings instead of sending them through the post. Is this cold-hearted? What do you do? I know that many people are truly too busy to prepare dozens of cards, so I don't begrudge them that. And do you save your Christmas cards? I do love finding them in my box, just as much as I love putting them together myself and sending them out into the world, little missives of 'hello' and 'how are you doing?' and 'Merry Christmas!' or 'Christ is Born!'

I love sending out Christmas cards! It is one of my most favorite tasks of the year. I will keep sending mine even if people don't send back. I think receiving a personal cad is so nice!!! Merry Christmas everyone!

My Christmas card list has become a bit shorter too because of not hearing back from people after a few years. I'm sure it is a combination of higher postage rates and technology that has led to a decline in sending holiday cards but I still like doing it. I'd also rather get a pretty card than a boring or bragging newsletter! lol! I put the Christmas cards in a basket as they arrive but I don't keep them after the holiday is over.

oh yes the feeling of the pile all done...i usually wait until school is out (i am a teacher) and I am more relaxed to do my cards...my older daughter usually creates them...

I should clarify from my comment above that not all newsletters are boring or bragging. lol! I really don't mind them if they give a brief and interesting summary of the person's year, but we seem to get the ones that go on and on about the family pet or someone's surgery with all the details before and after; or go on and on about how perfectly successful a child or spouse is. You get the picture....

Last year, we bagged the card and just did a letter, and I suspect will do that again this year. But, I rarely cut my list, unless it is someone who really I *never* hear from, and isn't related.

well... I admit it, I am really bad at doing Christmas Cards. I did them for work this year, which was fun. My Grandmother is really good at cards - she often sends cards throughout the year to those she thinks needs a bit of cheer. I hope I can grow to be more like her as time progresses!

I have a scrapbook that I keep all of ours from previous years. It's fun too look back and read what I thought was so important to share in the family newsletter. You know, "so and so lost a tooth this year!"...HA!
Poor recipients. Oh well, I love them.
Good job getting all of yours done!
