Birthday Visitors

We were blessed by a visit from some old dear friends and our three little godchildren this last week. We celebrated all of the kids' birthdays. To their delight, they had a chance to decorate their own cakes. Blowing up balloons also proved to be quite entertaining - or rather, blowing them up and then letting them fly around the room as the air escaped! We were able to attend Liturgy together, play at the park a few times, make parachutes out of garbage bags to toss off the landing (Transformers in tow), play silly games, and make block towers. I always have a renewed appreciation for mothers after our visits and their daily disciplines of feeding, cleaning, and caring for their kiddos. And of course, our gratitude to be these children's godparents is even more strengthened by our time with them. They have blessed and charmed us with their little ways.

We also visited a railroad museum, where a friendly, grandmotherly guide made our visit just perfect for little boys.

A trip to the zoo was also in order, although most of us were recovering from stomach bugs! My favorite part was visiting the goats and scratching their necks. They were pretty sleepy!
Any birthday memories? Zoo memories?

Sounds like you all had a wonderful time together! We took our little guy to the zoo in the fall and he just loved it! The monkeys were his favorite! I am not surprised since we call him our little monkey!

wow what great godparents you are! Wish I had a few of those for my kids.

Parenting is a lot of work but we don't do all that fun stuff, plus basic care and feeding in a few short days. We spread it out. You probably had a more exhausting time because you were trying to cram in all that good stuff in a couple days (kids love cramming it in by the way!)

My bday was on Wednesday. My sister was here (and helped with my ATCs, as you'll soon see.) We went to The Denver Art Museum, ate lunch everyday at a different local cafes, explored adorable neighborhoods and boutiques.

Yep. My 31st year has the makings to be the best!

What a great time! I don't think there is much more magical than kids at the zoo. We frequent ours as much as we can!

Renee, thanks for your wise words about parenting! That makes sense.

And happy birthday, Emily! It sounds like you had a nice visit with your sis! Mine will be here this weekend from SoDak; I can't wait.

Love the little cakes and the fun candies!
I recently had a FAB virtual birthday party on my site... it is memorable... even if it was not really real!

Sounds like a wonderful time! We have lots of precious zoo and park memories. We actually visited a new zoo today, I'll probably be posting about it this weekend. Ace always loves the monkeys, though this time we were both fascinated with 2 bald eagles they had. So many amazing creatures and so sad that many of them are near extinction.

Thanks for sharing the awesome photos too!
